So in order to accommodate all the new things coming down the pike, we are making some changes here in the Rockin’ Green house. It’s been a long time coming, and we are excited! First off, we are moving! Moving is never fun, and when you have to move 30,000 pounds of soap in addition to all your furniture….well let’s just say we have our work cut out for us this next few weeks. There is a lot of cleaning, painting, planning etc….Our new digs have twice as much office space- so even the kids get their own room! And we have a 5,000 square foot warehouse to store all our goodies! This much needed expansion is going to allow us to make more soap in each run, which means no more backorders or 3-4 day wait times for your order to ship out.

And speaking of shipping, we are about to partner with a company here in San Antonio (because keeping it local is important to us!) that is going to take over the shipping duties for Rockin’ Green. This will do 2 things, first it will free us up to make more great products and second it will allow us to spend more time focusing on customer service. That’s what we love and what we do best. And second and coolest of all, our shipping times are going to be lightening fast now. We are talking, if you order before 2pm your order will go out the same day kind of fast. I know that many of you order soap the moment you use the last scoop, and I want to make sure that you don’t have to make due for the next few washes whenever possible.

And lastly, UPS finally won us over. They have been working really hard the last few months trying to get our business and I am really happy with the package that they put together for us. The price of a single bag will go up just a tiny bit, but in turn you will get real time tracking stats and know where your package is every step of the way. Which is something that the USPS is sorely lacking. And when you are ready to buy a 90/180 bag (or more) you are going to save quite a bit. The savings for most will be enough to throw in an extra scoop or a pail powder even and come out ahead! (those of you with APO’s or in Hawaii or Alaska will still have USPS as an option- so no worries there.)

Hard Rock Voluntary Recall

San Antonio, TX. – Rockin’ Green, LLC is voluntarily recalling approximately 500 bags of Hard Rock laundry detergent sold between May 1st and June 31st, of 45-ounce size, sold for $15.95-$19.95.
Rockin’ Green is recalling the hard water formula detergent due to a mixing error that resulted in the end product being weaker than intended. Those with hard water may find that the product does not clean as specified and some may experience irritation or redness.
Rockin’ Green shipped the recalled products beginning in May to stores and customers nationwide and throughout Canada.

To date there have been 4 reported cases of irritation, and Rockin’ Green is conducting this recall to prevent the possibility of injury.

Consumers that have affected bags and are experiencing irritation should discontinue use immediately and contact Rockin’ Green, LLC at 512-522-7627 or jamie@rockingreensoap.com for an exchange.

The business...
We began in 2009 as Pittsburgh Cloth Diapers, working out of our house, with a mission to make cloth diapering easy. We used cloth diapers on our three children and knew that with a little support and education, other parents would choose cloth, too. We wanted to both demystify cloth diapers, and to help people sort through the mountain of information available. We figured the best way to do this was in-person.  So we converted our playroom into a cloth diaper showroom and began offering free cloth diaper orientation sessions. Within a year we were too big for our house and we had an 8 week waiting list for our orientations. It was clearly time to make the leap into a brick-and-mortar. We opened our retail store about 4 months ago. The response has been amazing. We now offer free cloth diaper classes for upwards of 16 people at a time (we used to only be able to fit two at a time). We changed our name to the Happy Baby Company and we now carry a full line of baby carriers, organic clothes, baby-safe body products and unique toys. We are Pittsburgh’s only natural baby store.

Our family…
We are Lilli and Adam Cannon. We live in Sewickley, PA (Pittsburgh) with our three children, Maddox 6, Miles 4, and Juliet 2. We are expecting our fourth child in September.

How long have we been selling Rockin’ Green? Shipping?
We have been selling Rockin’ Green for a couple of months now. We’ve learned to listen to our customers, not fancy marketing, so once we heard for the umpteenth time that we had to carry your product, we decided to try it for ourselves (we will not carry a product that we can’t stand behind). We loved it. Now, we can barely keep it in-stock. We sell a ton in-store. Online, we ship all orders to the USA free (and fast – we ship 1st class or Priority). Because of the weight of the Rockin’ Green, we do have a heavy item handling charge for online sales (currently $4).

Most popular?
We sell a ton of Classic Rock – right now the Raspberries or the Watermelon are probably our number one.

We were absolutely shocked at the number of people who voted for us to win Rockin’ Retailer of the Year. We try very hard to offer the best customer service possible, we ship nearly every order within 24 hours (usually same day), and we try to have the biggest and best selection around. I couldn’t help but compare his growth spurt to our situation here at the office. As we embark upon June (and our almost one year anniversary) it’s really amazing to see how far we have come in such an incredibly short period of time. A year ago, I was mixing things up in a little pink bucket here at the house and writing all our orders down on a piece of paper. Soon thereafter my husband started doing the mixing because it was too much for me to make in my little bucket. When it became too much for him to handle, we moved the mixing offsite to a local soap factory where everything is currently made.

Over the year our packaging has changed too- it started out in plastic ziploc bags with stickers, evolved into the muslin bags, and then got yet another facelift just recently to our new black/green pouches.  It hasn’t been the easiest of transitions. We have found, much like my son has, that sometimes growing up quickly has it’s drawbacks. We learned that there is a trick to using a heat sealer, and that soap is not an excellent conductor of heat…we learned a little bit about the effects of pressure changes on air tight containers…and the list goes on and on. So if you were on the receiving end of one of our early bags, I sincerely apologize for any messes that were caused! We made several mail trucks smell quite yummy though! And we have worked long hours to eliminate these problems and get a better product to your door.

Shipping is another area that we are feeling the growth. As our order count steadily increases, we have started to take measures to ensure that you get your product as quickly as possible, but more importantly that it is accurate. We have recently hired more packers, and are installing a new order processing/tracking system that will allow each order to be packed using barcodes and scanners. You will be updated every step of the way, and should not only know when your order goes out the door but have the tracking ID as well. It will take a little bit of time for all these systems to be put into place (and for the staff to be trained on the system), but we are excited about what this means for shipping times and accuracy rates. No one likes to receive a package that is missing something, or isn’t exactly what you ordered!

So know that while we may be experiencing some growing pains as of lately, I am doing everything in my power to ensure that you not only love our soap but get that warm, fuzzy feeling walking to the mailbox. There will be a little more love in your package, and I hope that you notice the difference! And thank you so much for believing in us and for giving us your business. I know that there are other options out there, and I feel truly blessed to have such an amazing customer base. I will keep coming up with products and goodies to make your lives easier.

We will take anything you have! We have a graphic designer, photographer and even a tattoo artist amongst our staff so we can pretty much bring anything to life that you can throw at us.

Here are just a few love notes, we have received this week:

My diapers have never been so soft, and white. and the ammonia smell is almost TOTALLY gone! I’ve never been so happy while cloth diapering!!

My problems have notoriously been with night dipes and ammonia. Last night’s night dipe was completely soaked (DH put the wrong doubler in!), and it smelled like…absolutely nothing! And of course, she had no irritation!

I’m VERY happy with the new formulation. There doesn’t appear to be any skin irritation, and I’m no longer getting that strong ammonia smell after she pees in her diapers. Success! When are you going to actually be selling it? I’m going to run through this bag quickly, and I NEED MORE! :

So, I have used it in several loads now and it is doing very well. Even poopy dipes I couldn’t get to for 4 days came clean. I am very very impressed and would love a large thing of it.

I just LOVE this Hard Rock! I don’t think I’d ever want to scale back that final rinse, but I’ve now cut out an entire wash cycle worth of water from our routine. Thanks so much Kim for making such a ROCKIN’ product!
